A Wedding at The Palm House, Liverpool

A Styled Shoot at The Palm House, Sefton Park – Why Choosing the Right Wedding Venue Shapes Your Entire Day

If you're on the hunt for a wedding venue that offers a one-of-a-kind backdrop for your big day, look no further than The Palm House at Sefton Park in Liverpool. Trust me, it will absolutely blow you away.

I had the most wonderful time photographing a styled shoot here, capturing some gorgeous details, in an insane UK wedding venue. It’s the perfect example of how choosing your wedding venue starts as the most important choice of your wedding day (other than choosing who to marry of course). Your venue is the backdrop to your big day, and your choices for other elements (your dress, stationary, decor, flowers, photographer) will more than likely all be influenced by your wedding venue. Beginning with ensuring you have a wedding venue that you absolutely adore, will enable all your other wedding planning decisions to flow quite organically, and you will be able to create the wedding that you always dreamed off, with all the aesthetics that tie together go naturally.

The Palm House first opened its doors in the 1800s, and it has such a unique charm. Stepping inside this Victorian gem feels like being transported to another world—one full of lush, exotic plants that make you feel like you’ve just stepped out of Liverpool and into a tropical paradise. The Palm House is home to plants from all over the world, so no matter the weather outside, inside you’re guaranteed to find yourself surrounded by a stunning, vibrant space that’s as beautiful as it is unforgettable.

I arrived at the Palm House on a beautifully sunny spring day, and was blown away by the set up for our styled shoot. The tablescape was set up perfectly, with green and white florals in oversized vases, creating such a fresh, lush look. The beige napkins and hessian plate chargers added depth and texture, while coconuts were thoughtfully placed to give a nod to the exotic surroundings. The mix of flowers, candles texture and fruit on a tablescape is just a great conservation piece for your wedding day.  The attention to detail is one of those elements that will keep your guests talking about your wedding for years to come.

Karena and Will were the perfect couple for this shoot. They were such a joy to work with—laughing and dancing together throughout the session. One of the things I love most about wedding photography is capturing the motion and fun of the day. When you’re moving, rather than standing still, it lets you relax and just enjoy the moment, which means your photos capture you being your true, authentic selves. That’s when the magic happens.

The light inside the Palm House was incredible, especially with the sunshine streaming through the glass roof. As a photographer, LIGHT IS EVERYTHING—it can completely transform the feel of a photo. We had so much fun playing with the contrast of harsh light and shadows, and it was amazing to see how the natural light brought an extra layer of depth and emotion to our images.

This light was also perfect for showcasing the stunning dresses from the incredible designers at the  House of Savin. Karena wore two beautiful gowns, each with its own unique vibe. One dress had removable puffy sleeves with sweet bow detailing—such a versatile and timeless look. The other dress had a gorgeous floral design wrapping around it, which was the perfect fit for a botanical garden wedding, and the addition of a veil, which looked epic in the glorious sun.  I absolutely love when couples incorporate elements from their venue into their wedding outfits—it really ties everything together and makes the day feel even more personal.

To finish off the look of the day we had fun with a Margherita tower (which really did taste amazing). This quirky twist was the perfect match for the exotic, tropical theme of the day and offered a fun alternative to the traditional champagne tower. If there’s a wedding trend you love, go for it! Just make sure it aligns with the vibe of your day. It’s your celebration, so make it as unique and true to your story as possible.

If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Liverpool that’s got that unique, wow-factor, yet still allows you to make the space your own, The Palm House at Sefton Park is the perfect choice. It’s a place that will truly wow your guests, and give you the freedom to create a wedding that feels completely you.
