A Colourful, Joy-Filled Wedding at Kindred, London
Some weddings feel vibrant from the very first moment, and Grace and Darrenās day was exactly that. Full of personality, colour, music and movement, their London wedding unfolded with an effortless sense of fun that carried from the morning preparations all the way through to a packed dance floor late into the evening.
A Colourful Start at a Beautiful Airbnb
The day began at one of the most beautifully designed Airbnbs I have ever been too! A space that instantly set the tone for everything that followed. Every room felt thoughtfully curated, filled with colour, interesting textures, and stylish details that made it the perfect backdrop for the morning preparations. This was the perfect example of thinking intentionally about each and every space you choose to include on your wedding day. After all, your preparation area, is still going to be in a heap of your wedding photos and therefore, needs considering, not being forgotton about.
Both parts of the wedding party got ready under the same roof. Luckily it was a large house, so everyone could keep their distance from one another, but made it very easy for me to capture both sides of preparation. Natural light poured through the windows as laughter echoed through the rooms. The vibrant interior paired perfectly with the energy of the morning; relaxed, joyful, and full of anticipation. It felt less like a formal start to a wedding day and more like friends gathering for something truly special.
From a photography perspective, it was a dream setting. The colours, the design, and the atmosphere allowed for a mix of candid storytelling and editorial portraits, captured across both digital and 35mm film photography. Those film frames in particular added an extra softness and nostalgia to the moments throughout the day,
A Stylish Ceremony at Kindred
The celebration then moved to the effortlessly stylish Kindred in London, a venue that balances character and warmth with a relaxed, modern atmosphere. With multiple floors, the day flows well through the different elements of a wedding day, with each room bringing itās own personality!
Grace and Darren chose to have a personalised ceremony, making the moment feel deeply reflective of who they are as a couple. There was laughter, emotion, and plenty of smiles from the guests gathered around them.
One of the most memorable moments came just after they were officially married. In a surprise that caught Darren completely off guard, Grace revealed that she had decided to take his last name, something she had kept secret until that very moment! The reaction was instant joy, laughter, and a huge round of applause from everyone there.
It was the kind of moment that perfectly sums up why personalised ceremonies are so powerful, genuine, emotional, and completely unique.
Exploring Hammersmith Together
After the ceremony, while the guests enjoyed their cocktails. We took a wander through Hammersmith for some portraits.
We stopped by the iconic Hammersmith Apollo and took a stroll across Hammersmith Bridge, using the surrounding architecture and streets as part of the visual story of the day.
These little walks away from the crowd are always some of the most special moments of a wedding. A chance for the couple to breathe, laugh together, and take in the fact that theyāve just gotten married.
Bright Florals & Joyful Energy
Back at the venue, the colour continued to shine through the styling. Bright florals, playful arrangements, and thoughtful details filled the room, creating an atmosphere that felt both elegant and incredibly fun.
Nothing felt overly formal, it was simply a space designed for people to enjoy themselves, and to enjoy the sensational food that was prepared.
An Irish Band That Set the Party Off
As the evening rolled in, the energy shifted from celebration to full-blown party.
Grace, proudly Irish, had organised an Irish band to kick things off, and they absolutely delivered. Within minutes the dance floor was full, the music lifting the room and bringing guests together in the kind of joyful chaos that only live music can create. Another surprise Grace had up her sleeve, was a change of look for the party. New hair, dress, shoes and earrings which were lovingly made her for by her maid of honour. Nothing gets a wedding party really going like live music.
It was one of those evenings where the party seemed to build and build, with laughter, dancing, and incredible vibes carrying long into the night.
