Back Garden Wedding in Somerset- Rosannah + Chris

IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR AN EPIC OUTDOOR WEDDING FOR SOME AMAZING WEDDING INSPIRATION. LOOK NO FURTHER THAN THIS STUNNING TIPI WEDDING!!

When Rosannah and Chris first got in touch with me about their back garden wedding in Somerset, I was so thrilled – they were planning the most relaxed tipi wedding with an outdoor ceremony, lawn games and even a homemade bar. Rosannah and Chris are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

Bride and groom prep

I began the morning at Manor Mill, a stunning house, where both the bride and groom were getting ready with all their friends and family, and it was really chilled, because everyone was in a good mood. Rosannah wore a stunning Jenny Packham gown and Chris wore a light blue Reiss suit which really made him stand out and they both looked so perfect. The bridesmaids drove from here to the ceremony in an awesome light blue VW campervan with Rosannah and her dad following close behind in an antique beetle which was perfect!

The outdoor ceremony

The wedding took place In the grounds of Chris' parents home, and was a romantic garden ceremony. They had personal vows they wrote themselves, which everyone enjoyed. Along with some beautiful readings from family and friends. After the ceremony they were showered with confetti, and then the celebrations began. After a short walk across a bridge (which they had built for the wedding) they headed over to the tipi which was a stones throw away from their outdoor ceremony.

“We chose to do both the ceremony and reception in Chris’s parent’s garden.  Both of us wanted to have a very relaxed and informal vibe, and it also gave us the flexibility to build and create a lot of the features and decorations ourselves. Fingers crossed for good weather…!”

The afternoon

The wedding reception took place in an epic tipi, which was adorned with Stunning wild flowers, festoon lights and personalised stationary which Rosannah and Chris had done themselves! It was so unique.

It was a beautiful warm day, which was glorious fro all. While the guests played lawn games, the 3 of us snuck off around the gardens to get some gorgeous portraits.

During the reception they a homemade bar which was in the shape of a gondola to add to their “ski” theme, which went down a storm!! For the wedding breakfast everyone had tacos, and it was absolutely delicious. This was followed by homemade apple pie, adorned with the couple’s initials. After the meal they had some wonderful speeches, then everyone hit the dance floor. They also had fire pits to roast marshmallows, as well as an outdoor cinema screen displaying photos of everyone which was such a personal touch!

The couple

Rosannah + Chris say if you’re planning a wedding;

-Do it as a team effort! Make all decisions together. it’s so much easier. and the wedding will be a reflection of the two of you as a couple.

-Find a dress you can enjoy all your delicious your food in.

-Pinterest is amazing for inspiration - but take it with a HUGE pinch of salt.A lot of the images have taken hours for a whole team to style /put together and can be a little unrealistic.

-Enjoy the experience of planning your wedding. It only comes around once - so make the most of it and have fun!

-Ask your local village hall what you can borrow/hire. Our’s turned up trumps and saved a lot of money!!
